Ten years ago today, we premiered Episode 1 of Season One of Shakespeare Republic, featuring the fabulous Alan Fletcher as “Macbeth”. And today we are launching the first trailer for our new project: Musing on the Bard: a podcast for the Shakespeare curious, marking the 10th Anniversary of putting award-winning and critically acclaimed byte-sized Shakespeare on screen, featuring conversations with members of our wonderful acting ensemble from around the globe. Shakespeare Republic’s final festival appearance is finally happening – a bit later than anticipated!
Our celebration of the final festival appearance for Shakespeare Republic: #AllTheWebsAStage (The Lockdown Chronicles) has been a while coming, with the final festival screening in the UK unfortunately being delayed a few months, due to the pandemic. We are delighted to share that the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust “Shakespeare Shorts” Award Ceremony finally happens online later today in the UK, where Jodi Haigh’s episode as “Duke Senior” and Sally McLean’s episode as “Macbeth” have also both been shortlisted! So delighted to be finishing out our festival run for Shakespeare Republic: #AllTheWebsAStage (The Lockdown Chronicles) with official selections for the season in two categories at the 2022 Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s Shakespeare Shorts Festival in the UK – taking place in April 2023! Jodi Haigh’s “Duke Senior” has been selected for their “Best Film with Theme of Shakespeare & Hope” category and Sally McLean’s “Macbeth” has been selected for their “Best Film Inspired By Shakespeare” category! Sally McLean wins Best Actress Award at Andromeda Film Festival
It was so lovely to be invited to submit the final episode of Shakespeare Republic: #AllTheWebsAStage (The Lockdown Chronicles) to the Andromeda Film Festival in Turkey a while back. That alone was a lovely thing to have happen, but it was even more amazing to then be named a winner in the festival with a Best Actress Award going to Sally McLean in her role as “Macbeth”! Amazing! We are so grateful to the AFF organisers for wanting our work in their festival in the first place and then to the AFF jury for awarding Sally’s work on screen in this role. We LOVE how supportive Miami are of all the creators – even those who can’t be there in person. We are SO thrilled to share this #ShakespeareSunday that Shakespeare Republic: #AllTheWebsAStage (The Lockdown Chronicles) has been nominated for Best Director (Int’l) and Best Ensemble Cast at the 2022 Miami Web Fest! Thank you so much to the MWF Jury and organisers – we are all SO EXCITED to be part of the festival this year and so grateful for this lovely acknowledgement of the work!
