Screenings & Festivals

Three more awards for Shakespeare Republic & we screened at Cannes!

June already?! This year is moving FAST!

There are a few things that have been going on in the Republic camp that we’d like to share, including our recent French Premiere in Cannes, the amazing new trophies we get to add to our mantelpiece from London & Cannes and another official selection for the series on the international festival circuit!

So let’s get on with it!

OUR FRENCH PREMIERE!

SHAKESPEARE REPUBLIC SCREENED AS A FINALIST AT THE COTE D’AZUR WEBFEST IN CANNES!

Shakespeare Republic (Season Two) had it’s French Premiere as a Finalist at the Côte d’Azur WebFest which took place during the 72nd Festival de Cannes as part of the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes program a couple of weeks ago – and we couldn’t have been more excited!

The series screened at the at the Gray d’Albion 4 on the Croisette (one of the official Cannes Film Festival venues) on the French Rivera among a diverse selection of series from around the world on May 18 to a fabulous audience reception.

And … our even bigger news that has just been officially announced is that Season Two of “Shakespeare Republic” is the recipient of TWO awards from the Festival!

“Shakespeare Republic” is the proud recipient of the Côte d’Azur WebFest’s “Best Dramatic Web Series” Award and Republic creator/director, Sally McLean has been named and awarded “Best Director”!

We were thrilled to screen alongside some of the great series currently on the circuit, including “Underland”, “Life Of Jess”, “The Spell Tutor”, “The Pantsless Detective”, “Chateau Laurier”, “Marked” and “Sagesse de Rue”, among others. Congrats to all our fellow official selections, nominees and winners at the fest! We’re so proud to be listed among your number!

Congrats to the entire Republic team and huge thanks to Clinton H Wallace and the Côte d’Azur WebFest team for including us in their line up and then awarding us so generously. We were excited enough to finally have our French Premiere – and to have it at Cannes (eep!) – but to go onto win two awards as well is just extraordinary! It is wonderful icing on an already amazing cake and we are truly gobsmacked and thrilled and over-the-moon with this news!

Karen Colbron with Erica Banks who represented the Republic at the London International Motion Pictures Awards in London in May

SHAKESPEARE REPUBLIC WINS ANOTHER “BEST ENSEMBLE CAST” AWARD – THIS TIME IN LONDON!

On May 25th, we were very excited to be screening again in London, this time as a Finalist at the London International Motion Pictures Awards (L.I.M.P.A.) as one of three series in their “Best Web Series” category … AND WE WON THEIR “BEST ENSEMBLE CAST (SERIES)” AWARD!

Huge thanks to the fabulous Karen Colbron and Erica Banks (pictured with our shiny new award in London below), who are two of Sally’s dear friends whom she had the privilege of working with at the BBC a million moons ago when she lived and worked in London and who continue to be wonderful influences on her life and career, despite their now being on the other side of the world from each other. Erica was Sally’s first mentor in Production Management and Karen taught her all she knows about Film Research and she is so grateful to both of them for their ongoing love and support – and for representing her and the series so brilliantly ❤️

Huge thanks also to the team at L.I.M.P.A. for this wonderful honour! This is our second “Best Ensemble Cast” award and the whole team of actors on the project deserve all the love for their wonderful work on the series. We are so thrilled that their work has been recognised in this brilliant way! Congratulations team!!

We are so very grateful to Erica and Karen for representing us at the awards and send much love and gratitude to everyone who made this possible, including the amazing Republic extended family who have supported this work for so long with so much love.

AND THERE’S MORE!

We are delighted to announce that Shakespeare Republic: #LoveTheBard is returning to the USA film festival circuit as an official selection in the 2019 Golden Hollywood International Film Festival based at the historic Raleigh Studios in LA – one of five series selected to date in their “Digital New Media & TV Pilots” category! More news when we can share it, but for now, congratulations to all our amazing team and thank you to the jury and all the team at GHIFF 2019!

Congrats again to the entire Republic team on all this fabulous festival news! So proud of all your work and long live Shakespeare!

In closing, we’d like to thank all our extended Republic family once again for your support – we honestly couldn’t do all this without it. We love our Republic community and we look forward to bringing you more fun, news and information from the Republic trenches in our next update.

‘Till then, take care, be kind to each other and see you anon …
