PLAYING THE BARD AT HOWARD FINE ACTING STUDIO
Sally had the great privilege of not only running a second 6 week Shakespeare course at Howard Fine Acting Studio Australia, but has now also been invited onto the official Faculty at the HFAS Studio in Melbourne by Howard Fine and Melbourne Studio Director, Phil Hayden, as the HFAS Australia Shakespeare teacher, which is wonderful and humbling and a little overwhelming! (But mostly wonderful!).
She had the great joy of therefore working with the Graduating Class of 2018 on Shakespeare monologues, spending an intensive period of time working through Shakespeare’s language and then applying the Howard Fine technique to the works with some truly beautiful results on the part of the students. Her students in the 6 week open Shakespeare class tackled scene work for the first time and again, delivered such wonderful, connected work.
Sally will be returning in the New Year with another 6 week Shakespeare Open Class, and will again be working with the Full Time Ensemble exploring with them the fun of Shakespeare in 2019 and she can’t wait!
In the meantime, here are some photos from both classes held in the latter part of 2018:
SHAKESPEARE REPUBLIC: SEASON THREE

And in a final bit of news for 2018, we can say that we are moving forward with the development of Season Three with a couple of new members joining the Producing team, although they are not new to the Republic.
We are delighted to announce that Alan Fletcher (“Macbeth” in Season One and “Jaques” in Season Two) is joining the Shakespeare Republic team as Executive Producer for Season Three and Christopher Kirby (“Thomas More” in Season Two) has stepped up to the role of Creative Producer alongside Sally McLean for the new season as well! We’d like to officially and publicly welcome them both to the Producing team and thank them for all the work they’ve been doing over the past couple of months already to get this next season happening!
Sally is currently in the midst of writing the script for the new season, while we also pursue funding opportunities. We hope to have some more news to share in the new year, but what we can say right now is that the engines are fired up and we are definitely working towards the next instalment of the series with energy and excitement!
There will be at least one more update before Christmas, but until then, have a wonderful weekend, pace yourself over this silly season and speak anon!
