Shakespeare Republic Season One Launch – new video released!

We are so excited to share the above video with all of you, which gives you a bit of a preview of the other content we have coming up from the night, including interviews with all the cast!

But before we get ahead of ourselves, for those who may have missed it, we launched Season One of Shakespeare Republic on Tuesday night this week at the fabulous Courthouse Hotel in North Melbourne to a packed house – and we had a ball (as you can likely tell from the above vid).

We were especially grateful to have the wonderful Shane Savage step in to do the vox pop/doorstop interviews with cast on the night.  Web TV enthusiasts may recognize Shane as “Chris” from the multi-award winning web series, Chris & Josh (the webseries), and for his nomination for ‘Best Male Performance In A Comedy” (for his work as “Chris”) at the 2015 International Academy of Web Television Awards, held earlier this year in Las Vegas, where he was also asked to present an award.  A keen eye will spot Shakespeare Republic Artistic Director, Sally McLean, and Republic ensemble member, Ben Steel, playing opposite Shane and his co-star, Matt Werkmeister in Season Two of Chris and Josh, so, as there’s already been cross-over – we figured why not cement it even further!  (to go even further again … both shows had the same Sound Operator – Tim McCormick – and Chris & Josh‘s DOP, Shaun Herbertson also took on that role for one of the episodes of Shakespeare Republic … so it’s not just onscreen talent from the shows cross-pollinating!  Wait … that didn’t sound right … you know what we mean!!)

The addition of Paul Anthony Nelson of Cinema Viscera stepping in behind the camera to work with Shane was another huge thing to be thankful for and something we all very much appreciate – especially as we know he had an early morning shoot the next day!  Together they have created some great interviews with the cast and got some fabulous footage of the night and we can’t wait to share the next video from the launch with you (which we will next week)!

But for now, enjoy the short “teaser” of the night and the photos below, taken by another lovely and talented creative we are very lucky to know and be able to call on, the internationally published and exhibited photographer, Christoph Ziegenhardt.

More photos will be added to our Photo Galleries page in the coming days – and another video (with interviews) from the night too!

‘Till next we speak … see you anon!
