Welcome to a big week for Shakespeare Republic!  This week we finally begin screening the series after many months of planning and hard work from all the cast and crew and we couldn’t be more excited!

Further to our post about our fabulous launch event held last week at the lovely Courthouse Hotel in North Melbourne, we can also finally release the full video filmed by the talented Paul Anthony Nelson of Cinema Viscera and hosted by Special Guest, Shane Savage from, among other things, Australian Web TV phenomenon, Chris & Josh The Webseries where he plays “Chris” as well as co-writing and co-producing (really, it’s so exciting to see how well those guys are doing with their show – awards and nominations galore and very funny content).

We were thrilled that Shane was prepared to step in and host the interviews with all our Republic ensemble members during our launch event and as you can see from the video at the top of the page, there were a lot of laughs, but also some interesting commentary on how Shakespeare relates to a modern audience.  Both Shane and Paul were brilliant and produced some fabulous content that we are delighted to be able to share with you now.  While we’re here, we’d also like to thank one of our brilliant Producers, Billy Smedley, along with Sound Recordist/Editor extraordinaire, Tim McCormick, for stepping in without fuss and with their usual aplomb to ensure that we had all the technical requirements in place to actually show our trailer and Fletch’s episode to our guests!  Series creator (who doubles as many things, but also Editor), Sally McLean would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to both for their help, particularly as she was still rendering the video content at 4pm that afternoon on 3 hours sleep and far too much caffeine!!

And so, the week is here that sees us add our labours to the pool of Australian Web Television content.  We are nervous and excited and thrilled at the response so far – and are all looking forward to bringing you our very first episode, featuring the fabulous Alan Fletcher this coming Wednesday, August 26 at 11am on our official YouTube Channel!  Make sure you Subscribe to the Channel so you don’t miss a thing!  If you want to get a sneak peek at the episode an hour before it goes live to the public, then sign up for our Newsletter here!  And follow us on Twitter for running commentary during the day (we’ll be retweeting and responding to what you share, so join the conversation!).

Thank you to everyone for turning out last Tuesday to Celebrate the Bard – a HUGE thanks to our wonderful sponsor The Courthouse Hotel, North Melbourne for hosting us with such care and style – and we look forward to seeing you online Wednesday morning!!

‘Till next time … see you anon!

FUN STUFF: We can’t help but promote Chris & Josh The Webseries, as there is a fair amount of cross-over between us and them in both cast and crew, as you’ll see from their Season Two trailer below (can you spot two of the Republic members on screen?) and frankly, we love what they’re doing. (and we can say with certainty that Chris is the best!! 😉 )
